Kathmandu

Kathmandu is not what I expected. It’s much… well, poorer then I thought it would be. It’s really sad when kids come up to your car begging for money, when of course you have to turn them away. The dogs also are saddening, especially when you see scrawny little puppies snuffling in the gutters, looking for morsels of food. It does mean however, that everything is a lot cheaper. A rickshaw ride (bike with a seat-thing on the back) costs just over two dollars NZ for a 5-10 minute ride. Most food costs around 10 dollars. So yeah.  We leave for the Himalayas on Friday, but ‘til then, we’re here in Kathmandu.

  2. Hey there Hine, great post. You touch on a lot of really important stuff. Keep up the thinking while you're on the trek through the hills.
